Pump lifecycles on microfilm
After having managed the current paper and drawing diagram digitally for some time, in 2006, Bornemann-Pumpen was faced with the challenge of converting the archive in the form of microfilm jackets into digital form.
The goal was to digitalise 80,000 microfilm jackets. The documents output to microfilm in part showed very heavy signs of aging.
These old documents in particular proved to be a special challenge for the DRS scan team.

Automatic cropping and alignment of these very low-contrast documents required a high degree of precision of the DRS and extensive commitment in the subsequent quality control.
The desired legibility was not always achieved in the documents saved in the binary TIFF G4 format. For this reason, Bornemann also received the documents in grey scale format in addition to the binary documents in order to use this document for reference if the results were not clear.
