DRS Digitale Repro-Systeme wins the tender of the federal agency for hydraulic engineering to scan microfiches
The specialised office for information technology of the federal Agency for hydraulic engineering has issued a tender invitation to scan approx. 25,000 microfiches.
The very unusual process of filming documents with different formats was considered a particular challenge here. Starting with correspondence in the a4 format to drawings of the a0 format, all formats could be stored in one fiche. the desired filing order after digitalising which does not make it possible to process the fiche with standardised software constituted a further challenge.

Because DRS produces the entire software in house in addition to the development and production of scanner systems, it is in the position to adapt the software to special customer needs in a timely manner.
The flexible and quick reaction to customer requests in addition to the quality of the scanned documents and the price were the deciding factors in awarding the contract.

The Federal Institute of Hydraulic Engineering (Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau, BAW) is the central technical/scientific authority to support the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Construction and Urban Development (BMVBS) as well as The Water and Shipping Administration (WSV) as part of

The BAW is part of the business division of BMVBS. It has ist headquarters in KARLSRUHE and service offices in HAMBURG and ILmenau and also houses the business office and library of the Committee for research and coastal engineering (KFKI).
As the competency centre of the WSV, the specialised office of the WSV was established at BAW for information technology with a competency centre for the modernisation of administrative tasks through the optimisation of business processes and IT application (MaAGIE-FZ).
