DRS Digitale Repro-Systeme GmbH was founded in 1998. This goal: Development, production and worldwide marketing of novel digitizers on the basis of CCD chips. At the same time, the corresponding services were a part of the DRS service portfolio from the beginning.

Development work

After determining the technical feasibility and subsequent development work, DRS completed the semi-automatic microfiche digitizer the next year.

Worldwide innovation

As early as 2001, DRS presented the first patented, fully automated microfiche digitizer in the world. The same year the machine was launched on the market with 60 applications and won the prize of honour for product design of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with its innovative character, its function and form.

Expansion

The next year the DRS-SCAN-CENTER was opened in Duisburg.

After moving to Oberhausen and the expansion of the SCAN-CENTER, the first DRS DIGITIZER was used in North America in 2004. Then DRS extended its sales activities to Europe and North America.
